Why a Homeopathic Professional May Be Better than Self-Healing
Homeopathy is a form of medicine that promotes self-healing in a safe and natural way. While you may be tempted to
head to your local natural foods store and treat your ailments with homeopathic herbal remedies, you may want to
consider taking a personal consultation from a trained homeopath. Homeopathic medicine can seem simple enough but
the truth is that the most important part of successful healing through homeopathy is finding the correct remedy.
It can take a lot experience to match up your symptoms with the correct homeopathic remedy. You can save some time
and perhaps receive better treatment by consulting with a trained homeopathic professional. What to expect from
your homeopathic consultation
In most cases, your consultation will begin with the homeopath taking your case history. Your homeopath will likely
ask several questions about yourself and your lifestyle. Expect your homeopath to take many notes. The purpose of
the homeopath taking so many notes is to build up a picture of your mental, emotional and physical health so that
they can understand the kind of person you are and what kind of remedy would work best for you. One of the greatest
assets of homeopathy is that they are considered very safe. Homeopathic remedies are so diluted that they are safe
for most people, including children, pregnant women and the elderly. What sort of questions will your homeopath ask
you?
Most homeopaths will focus in on five different aspects of your life. Basically you can expect to answer questions
from five categories: mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and general aspects. Your homeopath will probably want
information about such things as details about your past illnesses and any known family health problems, how you
feel about taking on new challenges and problems and if you are fearful of the dark or other environmental details.
Your homeopath will want information about how you react to hot or cold, whether you are a night or morning person,
what your favorite season is, and whether you prefer spicy, sweet or salty foods. Unlike your regular doctor, a
homeopath will probably not examine you. But if your homeopath is also a licensed physician, they may choose to
carry out a physical examination. Making the diagnosis and taking your prescription
Once your homeopath is satisfied that he or she has all the relevant information on your case, they will normally
only prescribe one homeopathic remedy at a time. Your prescription can change later if your symptoms change. You
remedy will be in small pills, granules, tablets, powder or as a colorless and tasteless liquid. You may find that
you may need to take one remedy four times a day or three days and another remedy once a day for a week, depending
on your specific prescription. Your homeopath will probably advise you not to touch your remedy but to instead take
it on a spoon or to tuck the pill under your tongue.
How many sessions will you need?
This will depend on your specific condition. Some people will recover more quickly than others. Treatment may range
from one or two visits. In some cases, your homeopath may change your remedy if the first one has proved
unsuitable. It can take several weeks to find the right treatment or dosage level. The length of your treatment can
depend on the severity of your illness. If there is no improvement after four or five visits, you may want to
consider seeing another homeopath or try another kind of therapy. One of the fundamental guidelines of homeopathic
medicine is that remedies should only be taken as long as you need to take them. If it is not working, it may be
time to move to alternative therapies.
